Our StaffLed by Coroner S. Timothy Warco, the Washington County Coroner's Office has a staff made up of dedicated individuals who investigate unexpected deaths, contact families, perform examinations and certifications, and provide general administrative support. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to unexpected, unattended, violent or traumatic deaths occurring within the County. Staff members include: |
Matt Yancosek,Chief Deputy Coroner |

Chief Deputy Yancosek assists Coroner Tim Warco with all of the operational aspects of the Coroner's Office, and assists in supervising our team of forensic investigators and experts in various forensic disciplines. Matt started with the Coroner's Office in early 2015 and was certified as a Medicolegal Death Investigator by the Attorney General's office in 2019. |

Susan Falvo Warco,Chief Deputy Coroner Emeritus |

Susan Falvo Warco has served the Coroner's Office for as many years as Coroner Warco has been in office. Susan has a strong background in nursing and is also a licensed funeral director. Though Susan has retired as Chief Deputy, she remains a trusted advisor. |

Deputy Coroner Pochiba is a full-time deputy coroner and assists the Coroner and Chief Deputy by supervising our team of field investigators. Deputy Pochiba obtained a degree in forensic science from Point Park University. She has a varied background in public safety, having worked previously as an intelligence analyst, an emergency telecommunications operator, and a police clerk. Alex's interest in forensics dates back to childhood. |

Olivia Mahla is following a lifelong dream by pursuing a degree in forensic science and death investigation from the West Virginia University, balancing her time while gaining practical experience as our administrative assistant. |

S. Timothy Warco II,Deputy Coroner |

Deputy Coroner Warco II has severed the coroner's office since the early 2000s. Tim has a Masters in business administration from the West Virginia University and is a licensed funeral director. Tim also works privately as a funeral director. |

Rodney Bush,Deputy Coroner |

Deputy Coroner Bush joined the office as a forensic investigator in early 2019. Deputy Bush has been an active member of the law enforcement community for many years, most recently with the North Franklin and Donegal Township police departments. |

BJ McKay,Deputy Coroner |
|
Deputy Coroner McKay joined the office as a forensic investigator in September 2020. A retired State Trooper, Deputy McKay brings years of professional law enforcement background to his new role. |

Denny Mendicino,Deputy Coroner |

Deputy Coroner Mendicino joined the office as a forensic investigator in August of 2019, following his retirement from the Monongahela Police Department, where he served in many capacities, including Sergeant and Chief of Police. |

Aubrey Onorato,Deputy Coroner |
|
Deputy Coroner Onorato joined the office in July of 2019 as a forensic investigator. Following her lifetime dream of becoming a death investigator, Aubrey previously worked for the Erie County Coroner. Aubrey is also a licensed professional counselor, and as a practicing therapist, she lends families a unique perspective on grief and loss. |

Steve Toprani serves the Coroner's Office as solicitor and legal counsel, helping us navigate concerns related to coroner's law, the County Code, and privacy. Steve is a practicing private attorney, and previously served as Washington County District Attorney from 2007-2011, where he led a major modernization effort, and worked to build strong relationships between the office and both the community and law enforcement partners. |
