NOMINATING PETITION SIGNATURE REQUIREMENTS AND FILING FEES - Nominating petitions are filed by major party candidates. For 2023 the first day to circulate is February 14 and the filing deadline is March 7.

*Candidates are advised that these are MINIMUM signature requirements, and that it would be prudent to collect more than the minimum to withstand any potential challenges.
NOMINATING PAPER REQUIREMENTS AND FILING FEES - Nominating papers are filed by minor party candidates. For 2023 the first day to circulate is March 8 and the filing deadline is August 1.
MINIMUM number of signatures required is 2% of the total votes cast for the winning candidate on the ballot in the last preceding election for the electoral district in question.
Filing Fee is the same as filing fee for nominating petition for the same office.
ITEMS REQUIRED FOR FILING AS A CANDIDATE
- Candidate's Affidavit
- Nominating Petition/Paper with the required number of signatures
- Cashier's Check or Money Order payable to Washington County or Cash in the amount of the Filing Fee
- Copy of Statement of Financial Interests*
*Original is filed with the governing authority of the political subdivision (the county, city, township, borough, or school district) in which they are a candidate on or before the last day for filing a petition.
*District Justice candidates, including incumbents, file the original with the county.
*Constables file the original with the State Ethics Commission.
