The Washington County Department of Human Services has the responsibility to oversee the coordination of the human services system through elimination of service duplication as well as the improvement and development of new services. The Department works closely with the private non-profit sector to maximize community resources through effective utilization of multiple sources of available funding. Total Human Service budget is in excess of 90 million dollars with a staff compliment of approximately 500 employees. The following programs are coordinated under the Human Services Department: Aging, Children & Youth, Child Care Information Services, Mental Health/Mental Retardation Services, and the County Health Center in addition to Food, Transportation and Homeless and Housing Assistance Programs.
