The MH/MR Program administers a wide range of clinical, behavioral, developmental, rehabilitation and other specialized services through contracts with many specialty service agencies and professionals.

MENTAL HEALTH and MENTAL RETARDATION services are available for both emergency situations as well as part of a planned course of individualized program activities.


  • EMERGENCY services for persons suffering from acute, life threatening
    behavioral circumstances are available 24 hours/day by calling the Washington
    County "911" dispatcher, who will link the person directly with a mental
    health crisis worker.


  • CLINICAL services are available through any of four (4) licensed
    outpatient mental health clinics located throughout the county.


  • REHABILITATION services are provided for residential, social,
    vocational, and other support system needs.


  • SPECIALIZED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH Services for children include
    mobile therapy, behavioral consultation and therapeutic supports.


  • CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES are provided to all persons and provide
    for individual service coordination and referrals for services.

  • CASSP program helps to coordinate services for children


  • SERVICE MANAGEMENT is provided for all persons who receive
    community based services.


  • EARLY INTERVENTION services are provided as an entitlement
    to eligible children up to age 3 who have been assessed to be experiencing
    significant (>25%) developmental delays. Specific services include individualized
    therapies provided in "natural environments". Service coordination is
    also provided to all persons in order to assure appropriate access to
    needed services and supports for the identified children and family
